PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Myler® Dee with Hooks Correctional Low Ported Barrel MB 27PB
Myler® Stainless Steel 3 3/4″ Dee with Hooks, MB 27PB Correctional Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3. Primarily for English riding.
The MB 27PB is a Myler correctional ported mouthpiecethat collapses onto the outer lip and bars and rotates onto the tongue. The port, although narrow and somewhat low, allows room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. When reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates onto the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control. Because this port is only 1 1/4″ high, it will apply little to no palate pressure.
Key featurs:
- Independent Side Movement™.
- Stainless steel mouthpiece.
- Curved mouthpiece.
- Copper inlay.
Notes:
- For more tongue relief, see the MB 41PB.
- For the same mouthpiece without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 27LP.
- For a non-correctional version offering more tongue relief, see the MB 43LP.
The dee with hooks is a stainless steel D-shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (“hooks”) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard 5/8″ wide bridle leather. The slots on the pony dee will fit 3/4″ wide bridle leather.
The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movementof the mouthpiece.
Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.
Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used.
